Description
(originally called Groupe Speciale Mobile) Global Systems for Mobile (GSM)
communications is a digital cellular or PCS standard used throughout the
world and the de facto standard in Europe. 900 Mhz first to be
deployed in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Africa. 1,800 Mhz being deployed in
Europe and Asia. 1,900 Mhz - North American version - US, Canada, Latin
America. Multiband phones allow roaming between US and Europe.
GSM is a 2G network with a future upgrade path to GPRS (2.5G) and than
EDGE (3G) technology.
