2. How do I restore the BESAdmin mailbox?
3. Should I have an individual BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrative account for each BlackBerry Enterprise Server that I have?

1. What is the BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account?

The BlackBerry Enterprise Server administration account, typically called BESAdmin, is a service account and mailbox that holds information stored in hidden subfolders of the mailbox. This information allows administration of the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service within a company.

The following is a list of specific email redirection information for mailboxes that are monitored by the BlackBerry Enterprise Server service:

  1. User's Name
  2. Mailbox Distinguished Name and Server Distinguished Name
  3. Handheld Type and PIN
  4. Enable State

2. How do I restore the BESAdmin mailbox?

If the BESAdmin mailbox becomes corrupt it can be restored from the Microsoft Exchange Server backup. The BESAdmin mailbox is treated like other Mailboxes with regards to backup/restoration. For information on how to accomplish this please refer to the Microsoft Knowledge Base entry:
http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q163/7/13.asp?LN=EN-US&SD=gn&FR=0. Back to top

3. Should I have an individual BlackBerry Enterprise Server administrative account for each BlackBerry Enterprise Server that I have?

There is no need for individual BESAdmin accounts as the account has the ability to talk to all the Microsoft Exchange servers and BlackBerry Enterprise Servers on the network. This communication is done through the use of the Global Address List updates that occur within Microsoft Exchange. Back to top
