The New BlackBerry 7290
It's Back in Black!  The new upgrade to the popular 7280 for the AT&T and Cingular networks looks from a distance to only be a case color upgrade from blue to black.  Inside though are some very requested changes of which the highlights are:

The 7290 is available for activation with Cingular or AT&T airtime service at eAccess.  Through 12-31-04 Cingular is offering a $150 rebate for voice and data service sign up.  AT&T is offering a $100 rebate for voice and data service activation through 1-6-05.  With these rebates and our existing trade-in program, you can get this device for as little as $119 with a new activation!

As you probably already know, Cingular has purchased AT&T Wireless so the converged network will have excellent coverage as we move forward into the new year.  eAccess is a certified dealer for T-Mobile, AT&T Wireless, Cingular, Verizon Wireless and Nextel.

Preparing for BES v4.0
The latest news we have heard is that the final Beta's for BES v4.0 for Domino and Exchange have all gone gold meaning that the release is very close.  Expect to see an announcement on December 1st with electronic licensing and upgrades following almost immediately.  Boxed software and licensing certificates will probably follow by the 15th.  The GroupWise final release of v4.0 will follow sometime in January 2005. 

According to our latest research, minimum hardware specs should be pretty close to the following for a BES installation supporting less than 500 users:

Remember these will probably be the bare minimum requirements.  We recommend to our clients that are moving forward on a BES installation that will ultimately support 100 or more users that they go with a server class computer with dual processor upgradeability.  The addition of a dual NIC and redundant power supply is an important and usually low cost addition.  If you have a BES presently are not participating in the RIM SUP or T-Support program, contact us so you can get v4.0 at the lowest cost possible by participating in these cost saving programs.

New Countries Added for BlackBerry Roaming

Cingular Acquires AT&T Wireless
You probably heard at the beginning of this month that the FCC has approved the acquisition of AT&T Wireless by Cingular.  The combined network will be the largest domestic GSM/GPRS network with excellent expected coverage.  However, as with all acquisitions there will be a gradual ramp up as the two networks, billing systems, support staff and product lines are combined.  Currently Cingular and AT&T are roaming on roughly 1/3 of each others network.  By June or July of next year that figure should be 100%.  eAccess will continue our partnerships with both companies as they merge into one.  Our customer care and tech support staff continually has access to engineers and network outage / maintenance reporting from both sides.  Our activations department is always kept up to date on any new processes or procedures as they are transitioned to one system.

We are expecting that after the 1st of the year when the first round of layoffs hit that there will be the traditional problems with carrier customer service and billing.  However this is where eAccess customers benefit.  Our internal team has access to the same tools as carrier customer service and this is how we help you "get it right"!  Our customers receive top notch customer service and technical support all at one number and with no hold time.  If your not an eAccess customer yet, give us a chance.  Our customers are among the most satisfied mobile data users in the nation!  Please email us if we can assist you during this transition period.
